Ankara, Türkiye – October 28, 2026. A delegation from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta paid an official visit to the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) in Ankara, Türkiye, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. This visit was part of an international *Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka* (MBKM) program for students and a faculty mobility initiative for lecturers from FEB UIN Jakarta.
The FEB UIN Jakarta delegation consisted of 18 individuals, including 10 students—ranging from undergraduate to master’s and doctoral levels—and 8 faculty members, among them the Dean and several Heads of Study Programs. The group was led by the Dean of FEB UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Qizam.
During the visit, the delegation received an overview of the history and structure of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as the mandate and various programs of SESRIC aimed at supporting the socio-economic development of OIC member states. The presentation highlighted SESRIC’s role in the fields of statistics, research, training, and human resource capacity building.

Students were also introduced to the SESRIC Emerging Talents Capacity Building Programme (SET-CaB), an initiative that offers university students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience through direct involvement in SESRIC’s activities under the guidance of the organization’s staff.
In the subsequent discussion and Q&A session, both parties exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration, including joint research, academic exchanges, international guest lectures, and various training and capacity-building programs.

The Dean of FEB UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Qizam, expressed his hope that this visit would serve as the foundation for more concrete collaboration between FEB UIN Jakarta and SESRIC. In particular, he identified the potential for collaboration regarding the utilization and provision of statistical data to support research activities by faculty members and students, as well as opportunities for international internships for students from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at SESRIC.
Meanwhile, Ali Rama, Head of the Islamic Economics Study Program at FEB UIN Jakarta—who was also part of the delegation—welcomed the visit. He noted that SESRIC is highly relevant to the academic needs and research development of the Islamic Economics Study Program, especially in ensuring the availability of credible and comprehensive data for student research, including the preparation of final projects and undergraduate theses. Furthermore, he highlighted the potential for collaboration in bringing in international experts through guest lecture programs for both students and faculty.
This visit is expected to pave the way for a sustainable partnership between FEB UIN Jakarta and SESRIC, while simultaneously strengthening the internationalization of education, research, and student competency development. Through initiatives like this, FEB UIN Jakarta continues to foster international learning experiences that bridge the academic sphere with strategic institutions on a global scale.(ar)
