Enhancing Student Capacity
The Head of the MES program, Dr. Nofrianto, explained that this visit is part of the program’s efforts to strengthen the quality of its graduates.
“One of the goals of this activity is to enhance student capacity. We want our students to learn directly from a credible international institution, broaden their global perspective, and build networks that will serve as a foundation for them to contribute to the development of Islamic economics—both in Indonesia and globally,” he stated.
Student Impressions
Viqri Maulana Fachreza, a second-semester MES student, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity. “I am very pleased, as this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience, enhance skills, and expand my professional network. This visit has provided a fresh perspective on how data and research serve as the foundation for economic policy within the Islamic world,” she stated.

Getting to Know the OIC and SESRIC
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the second-largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations. Established in 1969 in Rabat, Morocco, the OIC comprises 57 member states across four continents and is headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The organization serves as the collective voice of the Muslim world, with the goal of strengthening solidarity and cooperation among its member states in the political, economic, social, cultural, and scientific spheres.
SESRIC is a subsidiary organ of the OIC, established in 1978 and headquartered in Ankara, Türkiye. The institution performs four primary functions: collecting and disseminating statistical data, conducting economic and social research, organizing training and capacity-building programs, and facilitating technical cooperation among member states. Through its various reports and databases, SESRIC serves as a key reference for policymakers and academics seeking to understand the socio-economic conditions of OIC member countries.
