Jakarta — The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta has once again achieved a brilliant achievement. The Doctoral (S3) and Undergraduate (S1) Programs in Islamic Banking officially received Excellent Accreditation from LAMEMBA in April 2026.
This achievement further affirms FEB UIN Jakarta's position as one of the leading centers of Islamic economics and finance education in Indonesia, while also strengthening the institution's global competitiveness.
Strategic Leap for the Doctoral Program
The Doctoral (S3) Program in Islamic Banking, FEB UIN Jakarta, has officially achieved Excellent Accreditation status based on LAMEMBA Decree Number 027/DE/A.5/LAMEMBA-U/IV/2026. This achievement represents a significant leap, considering that the program was previously accredited B by BAN-PT.
Excellent Accreditation is the highest ranking in the national accreditation system, reflecting academic quality, governance, and curriculum relevance that exceeds the minimum standards set by the government.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Jakarta, Prof. Ibnu Qizam, stated:
"This Excellent Accreditation achievement is a clear demonstration of FEB UIN Jakarta's commitment to providing high-quality doctoral education in Islamic banking that is relevant to the needs of industry and the development of Islamic science. We continue to strive to become a center of excellence in Islamic economics and finance studies at the national and international levels."
The Doctoral Program in Islamic Banking embraces an integrative, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary approach to learning. The Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum is designed to produce graduates who not only excel academically but are also capable of contributing as researchers, academics, practitioners in the global Islamic finance industry, and visionary policymakers.
The Head of the Doctoral Program in Islamic Banking, Prof. Nur Hidayah added:
"This Superior Accreditation strengthens our doctoral program's position as a platform for developing superior human resources in the field of Islamic banking. With our continuously updated OBE curriculum, graduates of this program are prepared to become leading academics and researchers in Islamic economics and finance, as well as professionals capable of addressing the challenges of the global Islamic finance industry."
Undergraduate Program Strengthens National and International Achievements
At the undergraduate level, the achievement of Superior Accreditation from LAMEMBA further strengthens the track record of achievements of the Islamic Banking Undergraduate Study Program, which has previously achieved:
• A-grade Accreditation from BAN-PT
• International accreditation from ACQUIN
The determination of this Superior Accreditation is based on Lamemba Decree No. 026/DE/A.5/LAMEMBA-U/IV/2026.
Head of the Islamic Banking Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Yuke Rahmawati stated:
"This achievement of Superior Accreditation further strengthens the quality and reputation of the Islamic Banking Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UIN Jakarta, both nationally and internationally. This is the result of collective work in maintaining academic quality, strengthening learning innovation, and ensuring graduates possess superior competencies relevant to developments in the global Islamic finance industry."
Nomenclature Transformation: Towards Islamic Banking and Finance
This accreditation momentum also coincides with strategic institutional transformation steps. In accordance with Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation Number 6 of 2026, the following study programs:
• Doctoral Program in Islamic Banking
• Master's Program in Islamic Banking
• Bachelor's Program in Islamic Banking
• will soon undergo a nomenclature change to Islamic Banking and Finance.
This change is not simply a name change, but rather a significant expansion of the scope of knowledge, encompassing:
• Islamic Banking: systems, operations, risk management, regulations, and product innovation
• Islamic Commercial Finance: capital markets, insurance (takaful), non-bank financial institutions, and digital finance
• Islamic Social Finance (ZISWAF): zakat, infaq, sadaqah, waqf, and other religious social funds
This transformation makes the study program increasingly relevant in meeting industry needs while strengthening an inclusive and sustainable Islamic financial ecosystem. Strengthening Its Position as a Center of Excellence
By achieving Excellent Accreditation at the doctoral and undergraduate levels, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UIN Jakarta further affirms its role as:
• a center of excellence for Islamic economics and finance education
• a producer of high-quality, globally competitive human resources
• a driving force for the development of the national Islamic finance industry
This achievement is part of FEB UIN Jakarta's ongoing commitment to supporting Indonesia as a global center for Islamic economics and finance.
