Strengthening Governance and Best Practices in Postgraduate Studies
This benchmarking activity serves as a strategic forum to strengthen collaboration between Islamic universities in improving the quality of higher education, particularly at the postgraduate level. During the discussion session, the two institutions actively shared experiences (best practices) related to:
• postgraduate study program governance
• Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum development and implementation
• academic quality improvement and accreditation strategies
• strengthening the research and scientific publication capacity of lecturers and students
The discussion was dynamic and constructive, reflecting a spirit of collaboration and mutual learning between the institutions. Response to Regulatory Transformation and Study Program Nomenclature
One of the main focuses of this benchmarking was the discussion regarding changes to study program nomenclature as stipulated in Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation Number 6 of 2026.
In this regulation, the Islamic Banking study program is directed to transform into Islamic Banking and Finance.
This change reflects the expansion of the scope of knowledge, not only focusing on the banking sector but also encompassing:
• Islamic commercial finance
• digital finance and fintech innovation
• and Islamic social finance (ZISWAF).
This discussion is crucial in ensuring the institution's readiness to adapt the curriculum, strengthen human resources, and adjust the direction of scientific development to be more comprehensive and relevant to industry needs. Strengthening Synergy and Collaboration Between State Islamic Universities (PTKIN)
This benchmarking session not only serves as a forum for information exchange but also opens up opportunities for broader collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of UIN Jakarta and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEBI) of UIN North Sumatra, both in the following areas:
• education and teaching
• collaborative research
• community service
• and international program development
This activity is expected to strengthen synergy between State Islamic Universities (PTKIN) in creating a superior, adaptive, and globally competitive Islamic higher education ecosystem.
